Sicily Food&Craft
Sicily: land of excellence, the cradle of artisanship, and homeland of good food.With the project Sicily Food&Craft, we have chosen to celebrate (in our Catania and Palermo stores) the brands that proudly carry on the traditions and history of our land.

You can, in fact, find artisan products and the best of Sicilian food, participate in events and tasting sessions, and immerse yourself in the quintessence of the “Made-in-Sicily” tradition.

A tour of our two Sicilian stores highlights three important regional areas to explore:
1) THE WEST: with Palermo, San Vito lo Capo, Trapani, Erice, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala and the Aegadian Islands;
2) THE SOUTH: with Val di Noto, Modica, Siracusa, and Ortigia;
3) THE EAST: with Catania and Etna, the Aeolian Islands, Pantelleria, and Bronte.

Each area, with its premium brands and regional products, allows you to savour the true essence of Sicily.
Palermo
Palermo is a city greatly loved by Rinascente. And to pay the city homage, we have decided to create a journey that reveals the true local artisanship, with unique and refined products. One example is the Sicilian A’ Putìa (workshop, Ed.), the fil rouge of the exhibition project inside the store.

On the fourth floor, in the Putìa dedicated to home decor, soft furnishings and bathroom items, you can find brands such as Atelier Salamanca, Fratelli Napoli with their iconic puppets; Stefania Boemi, Giacomo Alessi, Fratantoni Ceramiche, Duca di Camastra and De Simone with their ceramic products and the Verus workshop with its Moor heads. Also guaranteed a place is Cinabro Carrettieri, a real example of Baroque influence on Sicilian artisanship.

In the textile section, make sure to see the ranges from Bottega Mouloud and Trizza & Lizzu, while Saqallìa and Ortigia will tempt you with their fragranced soaps.

Finally, the food and wine Putìa offers everything you need for your pantry: cheese, sauces and dips, preserves, oils and wines, from a first-rate brand such as ‘A Putìa grocery, which is strongly tied to the region and Sicilian tradition.
Catania
Also in our Catania store, the Putìa emerges as a display feature that embodies Sicilian craftsmanship.

The home decor section presents traditional products from Fratelli Napoli, Atelier Salamanca and Cuticchio. To offer a splash of colour to your home, the ceramic items from the De Simone workshop are what you need, while the Moor heads and pinecones by Verus are a perfect addition to the corners of your living room. Other important Sicilian ceramic brands include Stefania Boemi, Giacomo Alessi, Fratantoni Ceramiche,Duca di Camastra, Fulk and Pietracolata, and Nuwa for working with lava stone.

Textile artisanship is provided by the innovative weaves of Alicudi, the warps and wefts of Bottega Mouloud, and the traditional Erice rugs by Trizza & Lizzu.

Regarding traditional Sicilian carts, in our Catania store you can also find the well-known Cinabro Carrettieri.

Examples of the perfect combination of tradition and innovation in the Made-in-Sicily tradition come in the shape of Stefania Boemi’s puppets: the marionettes are made of lithographed tin boxes topped with old doll heads. Their legs and arms have a basic metal skeleton, which is then decorated with beads, gemstones and chandelier crystals.

Also the traditional Sicilian baskets and bags, updated by esteemed artisans, offer ideas for home furnishing in all rooms, while the traditional soaps from Saqallìa and Ortigia will enhance your home with their fruity fragrance.

If you are a foodie, you can find all the traditional Sicilian staples here - olive oil, pasta, preserves, herbs - along with artisan chocolate and pastries, all from Al Vicolo, that also offers curated boxes and fresh products.

Finally, don’t miss the chance to acclaim Donnafugata, Tasca d’Almerita, Cottanera, Valenti, Cusumano, Planeta and Amara, and find the next bottle to help build up a perfect wine cellar.
